Toy Drive for Toys for Tots
We are excited to host our first ever Toy Drive benefitting Toys for Tots and we’d love for you all to participate. As you all prepare your holiday shopping lists, please consider donating any new, unwrapped toys that can be distributed to local children. We currently have 2 boxes labeled “Toys for Tots” in the Johnson Pavilion and Stemmler lobbies. We will be accepting donations from now until December 16th

Learn about the Land You Live On
November is Native American Heritage Month, a time to celebrate the rich histories, diverse cultures, and important contributions of our nation’s first people. Therefore, this month we will Learn About the Land We Live On. On Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 6 PM, the Lenape Nation’s Storyteller will be giving a virtual seminar titled “Lenape: The Original People”. Please join us!
Thanksgiving Food Drive with Philabundance
We are excited to host our third Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive benefitting Philabundance! Please join us in donating non-perishable food items to support our local community for the Thanksgiving Holiday, while also being in the running to win a prize. The collection period will be from Tuesday, Nov. 1st to Friday, Nov. 18th. Boxes will be located in the Johnson Pavilion Lobby, Stemmler Lobby, and Stemmler 480 (Break room). Please label the items/bag with the PI’s name using the provided tape to enter the contest. The lab with the most donations will be announced at our next meet on Friday, Nov. 18

In this interactive session, Dr. Guerra will discuss the Bystander Effect, the research that explains this behavior and the barriers to becoming upstanders and better allies. We will explore bystander intervention strategies and put the lessons into practice using case studies.

A conversation with the Penn Title IX office
Join us on Friday, November 12 at 4pm for a conversation with Michele Rovinsky-Mayer, Title IX Officer at the University of Pennsylvania. Here, we will discuss the Sexual Misconduct policies at Penn, ways the office helps those who are experiencing sexual harassment, how to confidentially report, and bystander intervention. Thanksgiving Food Drive
During the pandemic, food insecurity has been and continues to be a major issue and concern in many communities around the country, including in Philadelphia. With the holidays coming up, MicroIDEAs wanted to come together to support our community by hosting a food drive.
We will be collecting non-perishable items in drop boxes located in the lobby of Johnson Pavilion and BRB, as well as the 2nd and 3rd floor breakrooms of Johnson.
We will be collecting food until Friday November 19th, upon which we will be donating to Philabundance (https://www.philabundance.org/)
